Event in Richland highlights communication empowerment for non-speakers
RICHLAND, Wash. – The Arc of Tri-Cities and Voices for Disability Advocacy are hosting an event focused on empowering individuals through communication.
The event will feature a one-hour educational film that emphasizes the importance of presuming competence and advocacy.
Jordyn Zimmerman, the subject of the documentary, showcases the challenges faced by non-speakers when they lack proper communication tools and how they can thrive when given the opportunity to communicate.
Attendees may see individuals using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. These tablets provide a voice for those who cannot speak, allowing them to express needs, feelings, and choices.
