Longview Economic Development Corp. approves retention plan for Modine

The Longview Economic Development Corp. board has voted to approve a retention and expansion plan for Modine, ensuring the company’s existing full-time jobs remain in Longview and encouraging new investment.

Modine, a global thermal management company with headquarters in Wisconsin, acquired locally-owned Napps Technology in July 2023 and continues to manufacture Napps‘ modular heat pump chillers.

“During the past year, the company began to consider expanding operations outside of Longview,” LEDCO said in a statement. “LEDCO’s emphasis on business retention and legacy industry led to the discovery of Modine’s need to expand and possible relocation of existing operations to another state. LEDCO worked closely with the Modine team to guarantee that they could maintain their presence in Longview and grow their existing footprint here.”

The company has committed to a five-year capital expansion plan that includes the retention of 30 existing jobs and the creation of 22 more jobs at its Longview operations.

“We appreciate the great support we’ve received in Longview over the years and are excited to be expanding our operations here,” said Sam Neale, vice president and general manager.

Wayne Mansfield, LEDCO president and CEO, said he is “grateful to Modine for working with us to not only create new jobs, but to protect the crucial existing jobs held by our citizens. LEDCO will always do anything we can to ensure that the businesses in our backyard are in the position they need to be in to thrive.”
