City of Irondale continues to grow through multiple development projects
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The City of Irondale is working on multiple development projects in 2025.
The list includes a new municipal complex, library, fire station, and much more.
Included in that list is an $18 million renovation of the Civic Center.
Within the last four years, the city has built 300 new homes. It has also opened its first grocery store in 16 years.
The city is continuing to build commercial development, including a new space called MicroFlex.
“It’s a new concept. There’s one in Auburn, it’s a new concept to the state and it’s been really challenging to try and line up the correct occupancies to these buildings,” said Greg Cochran with the Irondale Inspection Department.
The complex includes four buildings with 39 total retail spots.
“Some of them are going to be auto dent repairs, putting stereo systems in cars, different businesses like that. Insurance agencies, home construction businesses headquarters that’s where they’re going to put their businesses at,” said Cochran.
City leaders said there are plans to build new homes and more commercial development is in the works.
