Technology and logistics, the sectors in which Spain’s presence is growing the most
For yet another year, Spain will be the third delegation with the most exhibiting companies at Fruit Logistica, behind only Italy and the Netherlands. Although exhibitor participation figures have yet to be confirmed, Silvia de Juanes, Fruit Logistica’s Communication Director for Spain, expects a similar number of Spanish exhibitors as in 2024, when there were 290 companies.
Last year, the Spanish presence grew by 2% compared to the previous year. It was the first edition after the pandemic in which exhibition space increased compared to 2019. Technology and logistics are the sectors in which Spain’s presence is growing the most at Fruit Logistica.
“There are increasingly more companies working to make crop production more efficient and sustainable, striving to achieve high yields with the lowest amount of inputs such as water, fertilizers, etc.,” says Silvia de Juanes. “There are also more and more Spanish companies interested in exhibiting their logistics services to speed up the transport of fresh fruit and vegetables from one of the most important producing countries in Europe.”
“But Spain’s representation at Fruit Logistica is not only measured by the number of exhibitors and visitors but also by its capacity to innovate. And in fact, the country will once again be represented by finalists of the Fruit Logistica Innovation Awards, considered to be the most important award in the fruit and vegetable market worldwide, this time with three finalists,” says Silvia.
We are talking about the ONIX red orange from AMFresh Sapain Citrus, and the pumpkin-shaped mandarin Halloweena, from Genesis Fresh, part of the AMFresh Group. In addition, since 2024, the FLIA Technology Award has also been presented to the most outstanding innovations in the machinery and technology sector. This year, the Spanish company Citrosol is hoping to win the award with its CATsystem, a smart consumption system for post-harvest use.
With the slogan “Make fruitful connections”, Fruit Logistica will encourage fruitful connections with more than 100 speakers on 5 different stages, focusing on all links of the value chain. The latest information can be found in the Fruit Logistica agenda of events.
“The sector is subject to constant change due to evolving consumption patterns, political developments, digital transformation, or the impact of climate change. For decision-makers along the entire value chain, this means constantly adapting to new circumstances and demonstrating creativity, flexibility, and innovativeness. More than 100 experts are ready to discuss current trends and future strategies in the Fresh Produce Forum, Future Lab, Logistics Hub, Tech Stage, and Farming Forward,” says Silvia de Juanes.
“This fair continues to offer great opportunities to establish connections and strengthen business relationships,” says Silvia de Juanes. “We have seen small companies that years ago started with small delegations under the umbrella of larger institutional stands now coming with much larger stands, a clear result of their growth and positioning in the sector. Some have actually become true leaders on a global scale.”
